Changing the Pattern starts with...

The Faith Community & AIDS

This Quilt section features several panels made by quilters from the faith community in Georgia and the South to celebrate and honor Black lives lost to AIDS through the Quilt’s Call My Name program.

In many parts of the country, during the darkest days of the AIDS pandemic, volunteers from churches across the country helped provide care and comfort members of their community who were dying of AIDS.  Sadly, because of stigma and discrimination, many also closed their doors to those in need.

These panels share stories of those lost, told through the eyes of quilters in the faith community to always remember.

“There is Healing at the Cross. I trust those who look upon it will experience a spirit of comfort that will give them the encouragement needed to get through the weight of another day.”
