Changing the Pattern starts with...

Corey Glover

In the lower left corner of this Quilt you will see a panel made for Corey Jerome Glover.  He was a beautiful sweet boy who his adoptive mother, Jenny, cared for as he fought his battle with AIDS.

From Charleston, South Carolina, his life ended far too soon, when he was just two and a half years old. His panel shows the innocence of this child, with images of Big Bird, bunnies, teddy bears, and fairy tales.

In the hospital he would watch clowns, make balloon animals from his crib, and reach out for kisses. The joys of his life were interspersed with struggles– he was often fatigued and nauseous, but he was always so loving to those who remember him.

“I held his smooth chocolate skin in my pale olive arms and knew he would be more than a foster child.  He was my son…he was a blessing.”
